This experience does not include crawling or tight spaces and is a good choice for individuals who are pregnant or have mobility difficulties.

+ Like most escape rooms, this experience uses controlled lighting and may include periods of darkness or flashing lights.

+ This experience requires a moderate level of English reading comprehension. As escape rooms are team-based, participation is still possible if at least one team member is comfortable.

+ For all of our experiences the story narration and clue system is audio based. Guests who are hard of hearing can still participate with support from other team members. It should not impact overall enjoyment as it’s a team based activity, requiring a wide range of abilities.

    No, but we recommend it! Magic School picks up where The Wizard's Chamber left off, so you'll get more out of the experience if you have already played The Wizard's Chamber.

  • 🔐 How hard is the Magic School Escape Room?

    Magic School has a difficulty rating of 6 out of 10. A nice entry point for first time players and experienced escapers alike. 


    Magic School is not too hard, not too easy. Numbers, patterns, places for things to go... everything you need is usually right in front of you, you just need to put it all together. Read more about our difficulty levels here.

  • 🚸 Is the Magic School Escape Room suitable for children?

    Absolutely! Magic School is very popular with children's groups who love the immersive feel of finding themselves in the secret chambers of a magical castle. And whilst it is a very popular room with children, adults love it too! So, it's a great choice for a family outing.


    A few rules though:

    1. We welcome children from age 7 to play as paid participants in a family group, though do recommend 9+ years is more suitable for maximum room engagement and enjoyment.
    2. Groups with children aged 9 and under require a parent or guardian be in the room as a paid participant.
    3. If the group contains children aged 10-13 years, then an adult must remain onsite for the duration of the booking but does not need to accompany the group into the room.
    4. If the whole group is 14 and older no adult needs to remain on site.
    5. Children under 3 years old may accompany their parents as spectators in the room, at our discretion, without charge, though they do always count towards the room’s player capacity.

  • ✋ Will our group be playing with strangers?

    At Escape This, all bookings are exclusive to your group. This has always been (and will remain to be) our policy before, during and after Covid.


    If you want to be locked in a room with a group of people you have never met before (some people do!) then we recommend you try another escape room experience provider.

  • 💳 Can I book more than one room to start at the same time?

  • 🎭 Can we come dressed up?

    You certainly can! If you have ever considered dressing up for your escape room experience we encourage you to do so. Magic School is set in a classroom world of wizardry and magic. Cloaks, capes, wizard hats, round glasses and lightning scars will all help you feel the part.

  • ⏳ How long will Magic School Escape Room experience last?

    You'll have one hour from entering The Wizards Chamber to escape! 


    We recommend you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time and if you allow for 15 minutes afterwards, to catch your breath and debrief, your whole experience will last up to 90 minutes. 


    You may be one of the lucky ones to escape earlier, in which case your time with us may be shorter.

  • ❓ How many people can play Magic School at the same time?

    The maximum group size that our Magic School escape room in Manly Beach, Sydney can accommodate is 6 people.


    Our group limits are set to optimise gameplay and ensure a truly immersive experience for all our guests. Fortunately for you, it is company policy to never compromise on your gameplay experience so these limits are NOT flexible! 


    If your group is larger than 6 players we suggest that you book multiple rooms to start at the same time and split your group across the rooms. Thus ensuring the very best experience for everyone in your group.

  • 🗣️ What if I don’t speak English fluently?

    Spoken cues and clues are a key element of our escape rooms. Presently, these cues are only available in English, though we are working towards multi-language options. To ensure the best escape experience in the meantime, we recommend that the majority of your player group should be fluent in English.

  • 👍 Is Magic School Sydney CBD a good choice for my first escape room?

    Absolutely, Magic School is a great choice for first time escapers. You will be challenged but our gamesmasters are on hand to offer any extra clues if you need them.

    Magic School contains mild, spooky themes but is suitable for children aged 9+, or 7+ when accompanied by an adult.
