Escape This Content Advisory

Works of Fiction

Our escape rooms are fictional productions designed to entertain, excite and thrill whilst sometimes confronting and challenging our guests. Some are set in the real world and others in alternate realities and fantasy lands.

As with all narrative based productions advance information can `spoil` the guest experience. Therefore the information provided about our rooms prior to booking is, deliberately, limited. A room is like a movie - we want you to see it for the first time without knowing the plot twists or, indeed, the ending.

Where a room may feature challenging content (by way of narrative or special effect) we try to provide guidance explicitly by way of a warning or implicitly by way of the room’s name or outline descriptions.

HORROR / AGE RESTRICTIONS

When considering a horror or age restricted room, it is important to consider both the explicit warnings and title/description implications. For example Cannibal may (or may not) contain references to cannibalism, Asylum** may (or may not) contain references to asylums (past, present or imaginary) and Buried Alive may (or may not) feature coffins and burial, rooms featuring serial killers may (or may not) reference any of the tools or techniques generally associated (rightly or wrongly) with these personality types, rooms with supernatural themes may (or may not) contain references to ghosts, demons, possession, good vs evil and religious practices, texts or artefacts. Such content is only ever used as a narrative construct it is never our intent to offend, trivialise, patronise or stigmatise real world experiences.

**Whilst the Asylum escape room is not in itself about mental health issues or institutionalisation we recognise that the stigma associated with mental health in the wider community is an ongoing problem. It is important to note that Escape This does not, in anyway, condone the trivialisation of any persons touched upon either directly or indirectly by any of the above.

The list of examples above is not exhaustive, it is meant as a guide to interpreting and assessing suitability of room content for your group before placing a booking. If you have any concerns about the content of one of our rooms we recommend selecting another of our totally immersive escape rooms or contacting us before placing your booking.

It’s not real - but for one hour it may feel that way!

Please remember (common to most works of fiction) that unless otherwise indicated, all the names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents in our escape rooms are either the product of our production team’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual or fictional persons (living or dead), events(actual or fictional) and locations(actual or fictional) is purely coincidental.
